Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola talked to the press ahead of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) semi-final second leg against the defending champions Real Madrid.
The Spaniard said that he will try to do something new in attack as the English champions only managed to score one goal at the Santiago Bernabeu on May 9.
“I have an idea to do something differently, just to be more fluid in attack,” he said.
While talking about Los Blancos’ tremendous form in the UCL as they have won the tournament five times in the last nine years, he said he doesn’t know why they are so good in the tournament.
“Why Real Madrid are so good in the UCL? I don't know, if I knew I'd know how to beat them,” he added.
“I don't want luck tomorrow. The team who deserves to win, hopefully wins. Doesn't matter which one, hopefully it will be us. The players have to have an incredible performance to beat Madrid,” Pep said when asked about the luck factor in tomorrow’s game.
“Real Madrid always have a great squad... I think about what we're going to do, our strengths and what our threats can be. We'll try to impose ourselves on the game. We know what we can do. We want to minimise their threats.”
"We know their transitions, the quality. We play against Real Madrid in the Semis of the UCL, the toughest opponents. It's a challenge. We go for it,” he concluded.
City’s right-back Kyle Walker also talked to the press where he specifically talked about Madrid’s left-winger Vinicius Junior who is in red-hot form.
“Viní Jr? It's a battle against one of the best players in the world,” he said.
The 32-year-old right back also talked about the moment when Vinicius tried to rainbow flick him.
“I went to hug Viní because he tried to rainbow-flick me. It was more to say, 'Don't do that again' because I don't want to be a meme,” he added.
Madrid and City will have all to play for in tomorrow’s (17 May) second leg at The Etihad Stadium as the first tie levelled with a 1-1 scoreline. The winner of the match will face the winner of tonight’s match between Milan and Inter (they won the first leg by two goals) in the final of the UCL.
